Items weighing 30 kgs or more which cannot be handled via TNT's normal hub pallet processes can be charged with a surcharge of EUR 45,00 per shipment for Dutch customers and EUR 75,00 for Belgian customers. The reasons why items may not be handled through TNT's normal hub pallet processes are as follows:
- Items, packaged or unpackaged which are tubular or cylindrical shapes that cannot be palletised and require manual handling with mechanical aids and/or more than one person.
- Items between 30 and 70 kgs are not palletized and require more than one person or mechanical aids to be used to handle the item safely.

- Items, packaged or unpackaged which are tubular or cylindrical shapes that cannot sit and remain flat on the conveyor system and are therefore manually handled.
- Liquids in drums or bottles, that when transported via the conveyors, would be unstable and risk falling off the conveyor and causing damage to the shipment, other customers' shipments and/or injury to employees.

UPS Surcharges
Starting from April 17, 2023, and until further notice, UPS will implement a Demand Surcharge for all shipments that fall within the specifications exceeding the maximum limits. This amount will be determined per shipment and will be added to the existing rates, surcharges, and any applicable fees. During the peak season occurring at the end of the year, UPS will introduce a peak season surcharge. To avoid this surcharge, it's recommended to plan campaigns for the end-of-year rush and postpone non-seasonal campaigns until after the high season. More information about the rates of the peak/demand surcharge and the specific shipment specifications to which this surcharge applies can be obtained by downloading the latest Peak/Demand Surcharge information.
Additional administration fees will be charged at a rate of €20.20 for the following situations:
- For all items packaged in an external shipping container made of metal or wood.
- For all cylindrical items, such as barrels, drums, buckets, or tires, not fully packaged in a corrugated cardboard shipping container.
- For all packages with a longest side greater than 100 cm or a second longest side greater than 76 cm (30 inches).
- For all packages with an actual weight exceeding 32 kg.
For each UPS shipment in which the sum of the length and the girth [(2 x width) + (2 x height)] is greater than 300 cm, but not more than the maximum dimension of 400 cm, a surcharge of €79.45 will apply.
Shipments classified as "Large Packages" have a minimum weight requirement of 40 kg, in addition to the standard large package fees.
If the bulk packaging right applies, no additional processing fees will be charged.
The fee we apply based on the prepaid import duties/taxes paid by ParcelParcel. We pay these upfronts. It only applies to DDP delivered shipments (Delivery Duties Paid; shipper pays for the import duties/local taxes). The charged fee is 6% from the UPS charged costs with a minimum of EUR 10,00, which is the highest of the two.
⚠️ Fuel costs
Please note, fuel costs are charged for shipments with this surcharge. These fuel costs are a percentage and are in addition to the surcharge.
In case you as the shipping party would like to pay the import duties/local taxes instead of the recipient a surcharge of EUR 25,00 per shipment is applied.
Shipments that meet the following criteria will not be accepted for shipment:
- Shipments with an actual weight exceeding 70 kg.
- Shipments with a length greater than 274 cm.
- Shipments with a total length + girth [(2 x width) + (2 x height)] greater than 400 cm.
Additionally, for shipments with a girth (length + 2 x width + 2 x height) exceeding 400 cm, the "large package" surcharge will also be added.
Similar to situations with other transportation companies, UPS also offers the possibility of shipping to a remote area. For domestic shipments, a rate of €0.14 per kg will be charged, with a minimum amount of €6.62. For international shipments, a rate of €0.50 per kg applies, with a minimum amount of €25.95.
A list of these specific areas can be found here.

Transport companies, including UPS, impose a surcharge for packages that cannot be delivered and are therefore returned to the sender by the carrier. This surcharge includes the original shipping costs plus an additional amount of €6.94 for processing the undeliverable package.
If more than 5 different HS codes are used in a single shipment, UPS will apply a surcharge of €5.50.
UPS invoices the following costs when a shipment needs to be imported. ParcelParcel passes these costs on to you (the sender):
- Import Duties: Import duties are determined based on the HS code and the corresponding import rate multiplied by the value of the goods.
- Import VAT: This is calculated as follows: the tax rate of the importing country multiplied by the value of the goods. The charged import VAT can be offset as input tax in your regular VAT return for the respective period. This means that the import VAT does not result in additional costs for you.
- Advance Provision: In cases where UPS advances duties, VAT, and other government charges on behalf of the paying party, the carrier will charge you a commission fee based on the intrinsic value of the goods shipped and the advance amount. The following charges apply: €6.70 per shipment with a net asset value of €22 or less, with a minimum of €13.80. If the intrinsic value of the goods exceeds €22, the costs will be 2.5% of the amount advanced.
